How to adopt a kitty from AK Cat
Everyone has their own way to adopt.....from handing out for free in a parking lot, to fancy set-ups.

" THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE KITTY!! "
The way we adopt is first for you to talk with me, then set up a time to meet the kitties. Usually from the first contact we will know if we can work together. Once you come out, and meet your FUREVER friend, you will have to fill out an adoption contract, this states that you accept this pet as a lifelong responsibility, that you will NEVER put this animal in any animal control facility, and you agree to treat this pet with all the love and respect that they deserve.
There is an adoption fee, this fee varies, and yes! ................ it is necessary!! Catfood, litter meds and vets are not for free to me or anyone else I know. I am not wealthy, and have to pay for the things they need. The only thing for free is my time.
We also highly recomend that kitty is an indoor only pet. That being said, it gives us the opportunity to go over all the dangers of letting kitty out. From Owls, and Eagles picking them up for lunch, to the usual Dogs and such. We also go over cars, poisons, and people who may not love your kitty in their yard. After all that it is up to you......but the safest place is indoors, if they don't knnow outside they won't miss it!
Our adoption fees are in line with other local rescues. All of our kittens are already spayed/neutered.....so usually the best deal.
Most of us agree on how much it actually costs us to rescue a kitten on average. Vaccines/ food and basic needs all cost all of us...don't ask for a discount!
WE DO NOT ADOPT ANY KITTY BEFORE IT IS READY.....
THEY MUST BE AT LEAST 2 POUNDS
....PREFERABLY 2 1/2...( roughly 9 - 10 weeks)
